Getting The Right Camping Equipments
In earlier periods, camping was a rare outdoor activity given that nearly all people already are sort of camping due to the fact that they already lived in tents. As civilization evolved, the way houses are built went along with it and homes become anchored in just one spot. With inhabitants living in permanent and budding locations, the urge to get away from it all and to get re-in touch with nature have made camping a favorite vacation.
Each year, the number of people going camping increases and a few of the reasons why is to get a vacation and not to spend too much money. Camping activities such as cooking and making shelter has become more quicker and convenient thanks to modern camping equipments. The days of cooking in open bonfires have mostly been replaced with portable barbecue grills and propane fueled stoves while tents have gone from simple wooden rods and canvass to durable and bendable carbon fibre poles and water proof synthetic fabrics.
Preparing to go camping has become easier and modern tents have played a part to this. Camping equipments like these are essential whether it’s for backpacking, hiking, or camping.
The types of tents obtainable for veteran or would-be campers are:
Pyramid Tents
The pyramid tent is the most simple where it can be formed by one oversized tarp supported by two poles and secured by stakes. People who desire to rough it up prefer its simplicity and amateur campers will have quite an easy time in setting it up. Tents like these, however, are prone to invasion by insects and vermin. Many manufacturers of camping gears have made pyramid tents that include entryways with zippers which also have synthetic fabric canvass and carbon fiber poles and rods.
Dome Tents
One of the most common and preferred tents by many are dome tents. Rain water is not just repelled more effectively with dome tents but it’s also designed to provide more headroom and easier entrance for its occupants compared to pyramid tents. Dome tents typically come with two poles. Other dome tents are modified to provide more durability and resilience against strong winds and heavy rains. Additional rods and poles to its overall assembly makes it sturdier to the elements.
Tunnel Tents
Tunnel tents are tube-shaped tents where the entrance is usually wider and taller and gradually slopes down at the back. Tunnel tents usually come with two poles where one is much longer than the other one but there are also varieties of single poles. The major advantage of tunnel tents is that they are built lighter. Built more compact, tunnel tents are the ideal type of tents for a 1 man tent.
For those who have recently bought a new tent, be sure to always keep it dry to prevent moisture damage such as mold and mildew which not only discolor the canvass, it will also make them stinky and a potential health hazard. In storing tents, it is also better to dry them first. You can dry your tent by hanging it in a long clothesline and allow it to dry by air. You can also sun-dry it but it’s important to know that ultraviolet rays from the sun can potentially damage the tent fabric. It is recommended not to expose it for prolonged periods under the sun otherwise wear and tear from heat would gradually deteriorate the fabric.
