Spirulina? Why is it Good For Me?

Like many other health conscious people around today its very possible that you have never discovered spirulina capsules, let alone tasted it, so what is spirulina and why is it fast becoming the number one natural health supplement in the world?

Spirulina is basically an algae. It is mainly grown in commercial tanks and is then usually freeze dried or processed into spirulina capsules or spirulina tablets before it is distributed to health food businesses.

Spirulina has an amazingly large chlorophyll content, with as much as 70% in fact, and it is the large volume of chlorophyll that gives spirulina the deep green/blue colour it is famed for. In fact Nestle have begun using spirulina as a natural colouring agent for their blue smarties, which you might remember was dropped in 2006 until this year due to the chemical colourings they previously used. (Nestle introduced natural colours and flavours across their entire range as a result of health concerns over the chemicals used)

Spirulina is also filled with antioxidants, which have been proved to help prevent free radical damage in our bodies.

Spirulina is also abundant with vitamins and minerals including vitamin B12, C and E aswell as many other vital nutrients our bodies require to work properly. In fact the list of health benefits of spirulina is too large to discuss here so why not pop over to our website for more information on spirulina and the numerous benefits we can all gain from using it.
